SIA Solar Reintroduction: A Practical Guide for NCR Homeowners, RWAs and Businesses

By SIA Solar Team25 May 20264 min read

If your electricity bill keeps climbing every summer and you have been meaning to "look into solar" for two years now, this guide is for you. SIA Solar is an engineering-led solar EPC company based in Sector 132, Noida. We design, install, and maintain rooftop and ground-mounted solar systems and solar water pumps for homes, housing societies, businesses, and farms across Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh.

This is a practical reintroduction: who we are, what going solar actually involves, what the government pays for, and how to take the first step without the usual stress.

Who SIA Solar is

We are an MNRE-approved, ISO-certified EPC with 25+ years of engineering experience and 500+ completed projects. EPC stands for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, which is a formal way of saying we handle the entire journey under one roof: site survey, system design, government approvals, net metering, installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance.

We serve homeowners across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Rohtak, plus housing societies, commercial and industrial sites, and farmers replacing diesel irrigation pumps with solar.

What the PM Surya Ghar subsidy actually gives you

The central scheme is PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The subsidy is structured in slabs:

  • Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW
  • Rs 18,000 per kW for the 2 to 3 kW slab
  • A maximum of Rs 78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above

If you live in Uttar Pradesh, there is a state top-up from UPNEDA of about Rs 15,000 per kW, capped at Rs 30,000, which stacks on top of the central subsidy. Together that can cover roughly 30 to 40% of a residential system cost. The scheme is currently active; check pmsuryaghar.gov.in for the latest timeline.

What solar saves a typical Noida home

A 3 kW rooftop system in Noida generates roughly 360 to 450 units a month and qualifies for the full Rs 78,000 central subsidy. For a home with a Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 monthly bill, the system typically pays for itself in about 4 to 5 years, then keeps running largely free for another 20. Panels carry performance warranties of up to 25 years, so this is a long-horizon decision, not a quick gadget purchase.

A rule of thumb on space: you need about 100 sq ft of shadow-free roof per kW.

The six steps from "interested" to "switched on"

  1. Free site survey: we check your roof condition, shading, sanctioned load, and 6 to 12 months of bills.
  2. System design: we size the system to your actual consumption and give you a written proposal with component brands and a generation estimate.
  3. Apply on the PM Surya Ghar portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) and complete DISCOM feasibility, which takes about 7 days. In Noida your DISCOM is NPCL.
  4. Net metering and approvals: a bidirectional meter is installed so your surplus export earns bill credits.
  5. Installation: the physical work takes a few days.
  6. Commissioning and subsidy: after the final DISCOM inspection, the subsidy reaches your bank via DBT in 30 to 45 days.

Why work with an engineering-led EPC

Solar is a trust purchase. Cheap installers cut corners with mismatched connectors and sloppy wiring, and the result can be lost generation, voided warranties, or worse. An empanelled EPC gives you a written design, real subsidy slabs instead of vague discounts, and a single point of accountability for the next two decades.

Frequently asked questions

How much roof do I need?

About 100 sq ft of shadow-free space per kW, so roughly 300 sq ft for a 3 kW system.

How long until the subsidy arrives?

Typically 30 to 45 days after commissioning and final inspection, sometimes up to 60.

Will solar work during a power cut?

A standard on-grid system shuts down with the grid for safety. If you need backup, you need a hybrid or off-grid setup with storage. We will explain the trade-offs during your survey.

Do you handle the paperwork?

Yes. We manage the portal application, DISCOM approvals, and net metering for you.

What does it cost to maintain?

A small residential AMC is a few thousand rupees a year. Cleaning 2 to 4 times a year keeps output healthy.
