General Questions
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells. When sunlight hits these cells, it creates an electrical field that generates DC power, which is then converted to AC power by an inverter for use in your home or business.
What type of solar system is best for homes?
For urban homes with stable electricity, on-grid systems are ideal as they allow net metering benefits. If you experience frequent power cuts, a hybrid system with battery backup is recommended. Off-grid systems are best for remote locations without grid access.
How much roof space do I need for solar panels?
As a rule of thumb, you need approximately 100 sq. ft. of shadow-free roof space per 1 kW of solar capacity. So a typical 5 kW residential system would require about 500 sq. ft. of roof space.
Will solar panels work during cloudy days?
Yes, solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days, though at reduced efficiency (typically 10-25% of full capacity). Modern panels are designed to work even in diffused light conditions.
Cost & Savings
How much does solar installation cost?
Solar installation costs vary by system size and type. For residential on-grid systems, expect ₹45,000-55,000 per kW before subsidies. A typical 3 kW home system costs ₹1.35-1.65 lakhs, with government subsidies reducing this by 30%.
How much can I save on electricity bills?
With a properly sized solar system, you can reduce your electricity bills by 80-90%. The exact savings depend on your consumption, tariff rates, and system size. Most residential customers save ₹5,000-30,000 per month.
What is the payback period for solar?
For residential systems with subsidies, the payback period is typically 3-5 years. Commercial systems can see payback in 3-4 years due to higher tariffs. After payback, you enjoy essentially free electricity for 20+ years.
Are there financing options available?
Yes, we can connect you with banks and NBFCs offering solar loans at competitive interest rates (8-10% annually). Many banks offer loans up to 100% of project cost with flexible repayment options.
Subsidy & Net Metering
What solar subsidies are available?
Under the PM-KUSUM and MNRE schemes, residential rooftop solar gets: 30% subsidy for systems up to 3 kW, and 20% for systems between 3-10 kW. Commercial and industrial users don't get direct subsidies but can claim 40% accelerated depreciation.
How does net metering work?
Net metering allows you to export excess solar power to the grid and receive credits on your electricity bill. When your solar system generates more power than you use, the excess flows to the grid. At night or during low generation, you draw from the grid. You only pay for the "net" difference.
Do you help with subsidy documentation?
Yes, we handle all paperwork for DISCOM approvals, net metering applications, and subsidy claims. Our team ensures you receive all eligible benefits without the hassle of dealing with government offices.
Installation & Warranty
How long does installation take?
Residential installations typically take 3-5 days. Commercial and larger systems may take 2-4 weeks depending on size and complexity. Net metering approval can add 2-4 weeks depending on your DISCOM.
What warranties do you offer?
We offer: 25-year panel performance warranty (guaranteed 80% output at year 25), 5-10 year inverter warranty, 5 year workmanship warranty. We only use tier-1 panels from reputed manufacturers.
What maintenance is required?
Solar panels require minimal maintenance. Basic cleaning every 2-4 weeks (or after dust storms) is recommended. We offer AMC plans that include regular cleaning, monitoring, preventive maintenance, and quick support for any issues.
Will solar panels damage my roof?
No. Professional installation actually protects your roof from weather elements. We use non-penetrative mounting wherever possible, and all penetrations are properly sealed with waterproofing. Our installers are trained in proper roof mounting techniques.
